Taught little girls back in the day
To cook and sweep and sew and pray
Now little girls learn reading and songs
To keep speech crisp, not too long.

They taught little boys to fight and play
To speak their minds, mean what they say
Now they're taught to right old wrongs
Protect the weak, become more strong.

Chivalry- them, demureness-they
Aggression-there, defense- this way
Taught 'em freedom, where they belong
Secured status quo, today and for long.

They taught it all, they teach it today
How not to act, what not to say
Boys and girls these classrooms throng
Children, people never came along.
