Blessed are the Poor in Spirit
Matt. 5:3 Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
A good example of someone that was poor in spirit was Job. He lost all that he had, but he did not curse God. Job hung on to God until the end although he was weary. According to Job 42:12, the Lord blessed the latter end of Job more than his begging.
Psalm 10:3 For the wicked boasteth of his heart’s desire, and blesseth the covetous, whom the LORD abhorreth.
There are people not serving God that live in pleasure, drink, bless the covetous, and boast. They are rich. However, Jesus said blessed are the poor in spirit. The poor in spirit and the weary are always in want of God. They wait for God to answer, and they can find rest and peace in Christ. The poor in spirit are blessed.
