Several Overwatch (OW) teams have signed new players to their rosters, in anticipation of the upcoming Overwatch League. Teams from all over are looking to improve their rosters with top-tier players, ready for the third-quarter inauguration of the new and unique league.

NRG sign Sweden’s iddqd for Overwatch League

NRG eSports have announced the signing of Swedish player, André “iddqd” Dahlström, to their Overwatch team. He will take over the hitscan role, and will be joining support player Tim “Dummy” Olson, tank player Seb “numlocked” Barton and co-hitscan player Brandon “Seagull” Larned. NRG have yet to release the names of the rest of their roster. Dahlström says he is excited to be playing professional Overwatch again, after a long break. And he is proud to be flying NRG’s colors. Seagull, Dummy and numblocked are equally excited to be playing alongside Dahlström, and they are dedicated to making the team the best in the upcoming league.

Street Fighter player to take on Overwatch game

YouPorn, owners of Team YP, have also announced their new signing. They will be adding Street Fighter player, Valentin “Valmaster” Petit to their roster for OW. Although he is well known as a Street Fighter player, he wants a new challenge, and has chosen OW to be that challenge. The rest of the team is made up from former Evolve players, but they have not had much success in their OW adventure so far. YouPorn vice-president, Brad Burns, said they were looking for players who are dedicated to the hard work involved in the industry. Experience and teamwork are one of their major deciding factors in setting up their roster. The team have been struggling in OW so far, and there is a chance that the new signing will not have much impact. Team YP are putting a lot of effort and investment in their OW team, considering they have been banned from many of the other top eSports.

eUnited sign most of the old Reunited team

Another interesting signing is that of eUnited. Four OW players from the former Reunited team have all signed with eUnited, following the closure of Reunited. Thomas “Morte” Kerbusch, Harrison “Kruise” Pond, Andrei “uNFixed” Leonov and Hendrik-William “vallutaja” Kinks have all joined eUnited for the coming OW season. They are joined by former Slav Squad players, Normunds “sharyk” Faterins and Ruben “Rubikon” Zurabyan, and will all head to South Korea with coach Elliot “Hayes” Hayes.

Starting with Call of Duty (CoD) and Counter-Strike: Global Offensive in August 2016, eUnited launched its first gaming teams. They have expanded more recently to include a League of Legends (LoL) team as well as a Gears of War (GoW) team. And their CoD team recently won the MLG Atlanta tournament, beating the team from OpTic Gaming. Owners Jamie Daquino and Adam Stein are also looking to move their roster to the United States, from Europe, to participate in the new Overwatch League. eUnited are just one of many professional eSports teams looking to make a bid for the new league, and Daquino and Stein are committed to having their new line-up take part.
