Not Where, But How?

My Year in Review (2018)

When you have the expectation that God’s Will is a place — with perfect coordinates; a Divine Secret that you must decode.

you ask,

‘where are you?’

i’m nowhere.

i’m everywhere,

all over the place.

i’m in-between.

today,

i have believed deeply,

and i have had nothing to believe.

it is not that i’m changing for others around me,

it is just that i can see the world both ways.

i feel a deep anchor of life within me,

and yet i also cannot fully commit

to the certainty-filled life i once knew

where am i?

must i be somewhere?

or could i be on my way and right here,

at the same time?

could i be present in the in-between?

could the real question be how?

how will i be here,

wherever that may be?

I’ve never been a pirate, but I can imagine that location is a big deal, right? We’ve all seen the pirate maps that lead to a treasure chest. As you look at the map at this station — you’ll notice there are a whole lot of treasure’s marked with big RED X’s.

Think about it. We all have some treasure we are going for — that WAY we long to live.

It’s HOW not WHERE, remember?

Find any “x”

Choose one to claim as your own.

Write or draw

Write a word (or draw an image) that represents your, “How Will I Be Here?” in 2018. If you’d like, this map needs some detail. Add some terrain, get creative — use the pens and pencils available.

The next several articles will include the content from the two evenings we prepared/encountered over two Sundays as a community. But you can download the full PDF.
