Now if we can, I’d like to go way back for a little while. Where did you grow up? What was it like to grow up in Washington, DC?
I grew up here in the nation’s capital and let's just say life was great, but life was poor. I look back often and think how did we make ends meet, how did we survive and why did we live like this. Unfortunately, I was not able to experience the silver spoon, I experienced real life, drugs, alcohol, crime, poverty, but above all of that I experienced love, friendships, lesson, memories, and appreciation for how far I came and how much my family did to make sure throughout it all, we experience goodness within our households.
What inspired your entrepreneurial journey or event?
Honestly the regret of not having something that was mine. I lacked identity and I lacked working in the profession I worked so hard for in college and I finally stopped waiting for the opportunity and created it.
Tell me about what problem your business solves?
Empowerment, Musical Infrastructure, Culture Awareness and overall putting the spotlight on brands, businesses, artists alike that are not usually given the spotlight or their flowers.
What do you define as a failure?
Quitting, that simple!
What have you felt you have failed at? What might you have done to prevent those failures?
I failed at not believing in myself from the beginning, though it's been 6 years of The Media Prince, it should have been 16 years of The Media Prince. I failed my potential early on, but it's all about timing and where GOD wants you. I no longer look at failures this same, failures are when you allow the power of doubt, fear, and uncomfortable to take over you, everything is happening for a reason, just continue to do the work and failure will not be an option. Failure is only quitting to me at this point, GET TO WORK!
What kind of impact do you want your service to leave on your client?
My brand I want to leave the message of empowerment, inspiration, motivation, and the essence of knowing you can do everything you put your mind to, this trickles down into my book “And Then I Was Cancelled: Motivational Quotes for TRIUMPH & SUCCESS”, 150 quotes that help us all know we are THAT GUY and THAT GIRL and we are important in every facet.
What is your why? Why did you start your journey?
My Why is because why not, my why is why leave these questions and thoughts unanswered, I wanted to see different, which meant I had to create differently.
What hurdles did you personally face and how did you overcome them?
Child what haven’t I faced at this point, from health scares, to cancellation, to lost opportunities, to letdowns in people, to not accomplishing a goal to wanting to end your life, but I was not built to break, I was built with the strength given from the Almighty, who am I to see weakness in myself when GOD see power and greatness. You just keep going, you do not stop, life is going to happen and I am going to happen with it. I get so impressed with myself with how much I can handle and how much I can sustain, I am unstoppable with GOD.
Do you feel your product met the needs of the market at the time of conception? Does it still?
YES, YES and more YESSSSSSS, where are you going to find another Media Prince. I am too clever, witty, stylish and overly creative, what I produce will always fit a need because GOD made it certain to happen. I ain’t going no where lol.
When did you realize entrepreneurship was right for you?
When I knew I wanted to create and own all on my own and I gave no fight to the thoughts is how I knew immediately.
Why did you choose entrepreneurship?
It chose me oh GROOVY one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What advice do you have for entrepreneurs and small business owners who may not be achieving their goals?
Keep going, amazon, google, and apple did not happen overnight, remember you are creating something all on your own merit, be kind to it, trust it, believe in it, and keep it going.
What would you say is your most driving motivation to keep doing what you to do?
GOD did not bring me this far for anything, I have been put on this path for my entire life as I often reflect, it's not about me, this is my assignment, let's fulfill it.
What are you most excited or passionate about? (In both business and life or both)
In my personal life, I am excited about happiness and peace, professionally I am most excited about the opportunity. I am passionate about changing the trajectory of one's self-worth into something so positively magical, that’s me in real life!
What are the goals you most want to accomplish in your business? What are the goals that you hold personally?
My goal is to keep going until the wheels fall off, my goal is to see this dream out to its fullest potential.
Did you have any key mentors or people who deeply influenced who you are, what you believe in, and what you’re committed to in your work and life? Tell me about them.
My mom, of course, my grandmothers Edith and Elaine, my publicist and my pool of friends and family, that’s who influence me, my everyday people I take from them and use that in my realm of work, as far as mentors, no one has fully committed to that but there are people I look up to like Terrence J, DJ Quicksilva, PatisDope, Blog Xilla, Gia Peppers, Jamilia Mustafa Lala Vazquez(Anthony), I love their work ethic and how monumental you can be in your genre, they show me infinite possibilities.
Did you have any life-changing experiences that put you on the path that led you to be doing what you’re doing today? Tell me about them.
College and Self-discovery. There is no more science to that answer, it's that simple!
What’s next for you in your brand? What can readers look forward to from you?
More epicness and more of showing it can be done. As far as work in being a new author, you can expect more books to come, I am already in brainstorming mode.
Is there anything else you would like to share with me?
Greatness resides in all of us, please do yourself a favor and don’t count out yours. Do not downplay who see yourself to be and where you can be, we are KINGS and QUEENS, please don’t disrespect what GOD sees of you, let's work, GET TO WORK.
