“Ascending the Stairs” — talking with women about careers, the world, and everything in between.

I have been working with governments across the world for 8 years. First, as Minister of Economy of Georgia. Later advising governments in Central Asia, Eastern Europe and most recently in Asia Pacific. And everywhere I go I encounter the same thing — women are still struggling to be heard. Be it the boardroom or executive office. (Recently, while doing academic research at a leading University, I was told: “you are pretty enough not to do the technical work. Get someone to write up the paper and concentrate on selling it”.)

When I ask my students, who are the women that inspire them, they struggle to reply. All this led me to a realization that it’s time to stop thinking and time to start acting. I know many women that are inspirational, provoking, change-making, and mind-blowing. I should share their stories with the world!

Thus, begins this series of “conversations with women”. Accessible, relatable and unapologetically nerdy conversations about their struggles, their passions, and realizations. Conversations with women that are Diplomats, Entrepreneurs, Techies, Musicians, Artists. From Columbia, China, Brazil, Indonesia, UK and every other country on this blue planet.

Every week, I will publish an interview with an inspiring woman. Accompanied with illustrations by the talented Maya Abashidze. Let me know if there are any questions that you wish I had asked, and who would you like me to feature in the future.

The aim is to activate your mind into engagement that will lead to offline action. My goal is to change the way you think about a career, the world and yourself.

Love,

Vera
