Sweet and salty go together just fine…

Each Sunday, my wife and I cook and eat a meal together — intentionally. Every Friday, I’ll be sharing our experience here in this space. I want to see the growth that will come in our marriage because of this. I hope you enjoy our story. You can find last week’s post here.

This week, we decided to make a sweet and salty popcorn mix for a Sunday night dessert. Sarah had found a recipe, and I was all in for it considering that it called for chocolate chips to be in the mix.

We threw in the white chocolate chips and the semi-sweet morsels. Then came the pretzels and the peanuts. All of it swirled in with the freshly-made popcorn. It was the perfect treat.

Sarah and I sat down to watch Netflix and enjoy our creation. I noticed that each handful was different. You might get a few more chocolate chips in one, then go heavy on the peanuts in the next. The tastes are different, but complimentary. It all goes together.

Sarah and I often joke about our clear differences. Our movie tastes are quite different, to the point where we rarely ever are able to agree on a movie to watch at home. Sarah loves shopping, except for grocery shopping which she hates. I can’t stand most shopping, but I actually really enjoy grocery shopping. And Sarah’s love…
