Celebrate Hallowe’en With Mel Brooks’ Hilarious “Young Frankenstein: The Musical!” at Conroe’s Historic Crighton Theatre

Just in time for Halloween, Stage Right of Texas’ production of Mel Brooks’ hilarious “Young Frankenstein: The Musical!” opens Friday, October 20 and runs three weekends at Contoe’s historic Crighton Theatre. The comedy genius, Mel Brooks, adapted his legendarily funny film “Young Frankenstein” into a brilliant stage creation in collaboration with the creators of his record-breaking Broadway sensation, “The Producers,” for a monster musical comedy.

Grandson of the infamous Victor Frankenstein, Frederick Frankenstein (who prefers it be pronounced “Fronk-en-steen”) reluctantly inherits his family’s estate in Transylvania. With the help of a hunchbacked sidekick, Igor (pronounced “Eye-gore”), and a leggy lab assistant, Inga (pronounced normally), Frederick finds himself in the mad scientist shoes of his ancestors. “It’s alive!” he exclaims as he brings to life a creature to rival his grandfather’s. Eventually, of course, the monster escapes and hilarity continuously abounds. The electrifying adaptation with book by Mel Brooks and Thomas Meehan and music and lyrics by Mel Brooks is monstrously funny and sure to leave you in stitches.

“Young Frankenstein: The Musical!” will be presented at the historic Crighton Theatre (recently named one of the top 10 venues in the state to see live theatre by Best Things TX.com) located at 234 N. Main St. in downtown Conroe. Warning: “Young Frankenstein: The Musical!” contains adult language and situations — it’s Mel Brooks not Mary Poppins!
