How Can I Help?
Shop co-op! The best way to show your support for economic democracy is to do business with your local cooperatives. You can find a directory of worker cooperatives here.
Help promote cooperatives! A number of organizations are working to promote cooperativism. You can help them keep up this great work by donating to keep them operational. These organizations include, but are not limited to:
- The Democracy at Work Institute
- The National Cooperative Business Association
- The Cooperative Development Institute
- The Northwest Cooperative Development Center
Advocate! There are currently two bills introduced in the United States Senate that would expand employee ownership in the United States: the United States Employee Ownership Bank Act and the WORK Act. Their House companion bills can be found here and here, respectively. Call (202) 224–3121 to reach the U.S. Capitol switchboard, where you will be redirected to the Senator or Representative you wish to speak to so that you can express your support for these bills.
Organize! Reach out to local nonprofits that emphasize sustainable economic development and community wealth to see what is currently being done to promote the establishment and growth of cooperatives, and find out what you can do to help the cause.
Spread the word! Share this website with others so that more people can learn about and take action to promote cooperatives in their communities and around the world!
