To begin, would you mind sharing a bit about yourself and the topic that you’d like to discuss?
I am 18 years old and I am currently a student in college where I am majoring in sociology. My interests revolve around finding ways to express my creativity, whether it is through creating new art pieces or through envisioning new solutions to the immense problems that exist under capitalism.
The specific problem that I will be discussing is my experience with the isolation that is created and encouraged under capitalism. From my experience, this is manifested in numerous ways, including the demanding work schedules that eliminate any type of balance between life and work, the individualistic mindsets that are pushed in order to succeed in the workplace, the individualistic mindsets that are pushed as trends outside of the workplace, and the constant promotion from large corporations of illusioned connections through social media, online dating apps, online friendship apps, and now even AI friendships.
