It Starts As Soon As A Child Is Born

Congratulations! it’s a boy.

I remember when I was young enough to understand the term patriarchy, I was experiencing through it unfortunately.

It was a normal thing in the society justifying the acts of their son by saying ‘oh but men are born like this, it’s in their blood to act violently, to misbehave’ .

While girls like me on their hand had to keep our behavior in control. We were expected not to cross an imaginary line, beyond which we will be called a brat.

Another amusing thing was the way a difference was usually present there in the treatment of sons and daughters. It was from the very young age that we always had that notion in mind that this is not for me, I can’t do it while my male cousin can. One such example is to say no.

I know it might sound ridiculous for some of you but it’s true. The reason I mentioned this is to highlight the amount to which disparities were prevalent in my society.
