We’re almost there, only a few weeks away from the election and the future of the country teeters in the balance. We looked at the Republicans last time so now we’re going to have a look at the Democrats. All policy information is taken from their platform, link at the end.
Preamble
The preamble is important because it lays the philosophical groundwork used to justify the architecture of the policies they’re about to build as the ensuing ‘platform’. To understand the context out of which these philosophical foundations are laid gives a much wider lens through which to view this big spectacle of democratic election day. That has been my aim when writing this series: to offer a broader perspective that allows you to frame these short-term claims in a more holistic (and long-term) picture.
Political parties are constituted by a very small group of people taken from the population who think they understand the problems facing the population as a whole.
