When will I get to figure out
love on my own?

Not the ones I see
clicking through Instagram stories;
nor the complaining my friend does
when her boyfriend doesn’t get it!
even when she made it completely
obvious she wants that Estee Lauder foundation;
I’m not talking about the “open when” letters couples
give when they run out of ideas.

Not the roses, the gifts,
or the grand gestures

I want to know the feeling,
I want to experience the rawness,
and beauty of romance;
The butterflies — or much better,
the safari in my stomach!
whenever love is around.
I want hours to feel like seconds
when I’m around them;

No need to exchange anything,
we don’t even need to speak!
I just want to share moments of loving —
and more loving!
Until I fall in deeply in love
with love.
