Earlier this week, I was looking at some of my top-performing Facebook ads and creating new ads to test this month.

There are a few things that I try to include in every ad I create.

While these tips can’t guarantee success, you’ll greatly reduce your chances of spending your entire ad budget and getting 0 sales.

1. Benefits & Features

I’m sure you’ve heard about the importance of selling with benefits. Every copywriter tells you that people care about benefits, and you need to tell the reader about the benefits.

Sell benefits, not features.

Unless you’re selling candy, you need both.

Benefits grab attention and get potential buyers interested. They hear about some part of their life getting better and give you some attention. But, they want to hear about the features — they want to know the facts and how the product works.

I’ve been seeing this Taft ad on my feed every day:

The ad has benefits and features working together to sell shoes and boots.
