Ernest Hemingway Almost Gave Up On Writing

When we’re facing setbacks in our artistic or creative endeavors or any area of our careers, it’s encouraging to read the stories of famous figures who went through the same situations we’re experiencing. It’s inspiring to read about how they didn’t give up, how they somehow found the motivation to keep going.

One of my favorite stories is about a young Ernest Hemingway who nearly gave up on writing. Yes, you read that right. He experienced a devastating blow to his writing career when he was only 23-years-old, and he seriously considered putting away his typewriter and never writing fiction again.

I’ve recently created a short 7-minute video sharing this story. My goal is to have it reach as many writers and creatives as possible to encourage them in their endeavors.
