Colorado has had an especially cold winter, and the ice climbing’s been quite good. I spent a recent week down in SW Colorado, the iciest part of the state. A quick recap:
Drive on to Ouray, camp at Orvis Hot Springs for a few nights. Soak the bones. I cast around on Facebook for partners, none show up, and I work instead. Thursday and Friday we climb in the Eureka zone, home of big multipitches and scary avalanche danger near the small town of Silverton, Colorado.
