In the modern society, people invent and use any ways to influence others because it is believed that having power over the rest of the world is what offers diverse opportunities to its owner. As political and diplomatic relations are significant for the contemporary community, politicians and diplomats engage different ways to regulate their interpersonal activities. Therefore, sport is often used to control the political and social life or make contact with other people. As a matter of fact, most people think that sports and politics should not be combined as they are opposite spheres of human life. Meantime, there are proponents of the idea that these two spheres can and should be mixed because this combination can be useful to the public well-being.

Talking about the fact that politics and sports do not match, one should start with the following idea. When athletes are at the top of their sports career, and it is time for them to retire, they often think that they can become politicians. However, having enough money is not the most important feature of a true politician. Athletes do not understand it clearly and try to involve in politics receiving judgmental comments from their ex-fans. Indeed, many fans stop liking their yesterday sports idols because they decided to be a government executive, for example, and fail their duties completely.

To add more, most representatives of sports are not taken seriously when expressing their opinions on political issues. It happens this way because politicians consider that governing the country is not such an easy task as playing football. That is why they recommend athletes to stay out of the political life. On the other hand, politicians claim that sports should not be necessarily professional while politics cannot forgive dilettantism. It is the reason why politicians use sport to achieve their deceptive purposes. Ordinary citizens do not see that government uses sports to deliver their political messages. Indeed, when politicians wear sports gear on the cover of a magazine, they manipulate people, highlighting their excellent health and strength.

As for the possibilities of these two activities to be mixed, one must say that sports are often used to show that everyone can become a star if he works hard. The idea that ordinary people can become professional athletes if they do their best on the field is what politicians like to use to assure people that their individual work is highly appreciated. They make people make efforts while working because they persuade them that talent is a key force in the developing of a country — just the way people become sportsmen thanks to their talent and hard-working.

To sum up, it is important to say that the combination of sports and politics can work as well as it can be inappropriate. In most cases, politicians use sports to attain their personal aims; therefore, one can state that politics benefits from sports. However, sports often become a victim of political games as politicians always take advantages of sports to succeed in diplomatic and political issues. Therefore, it is better for sports representatives not to engage in political issues as it does not benefit them in general while politicians are often at an advantage. It is impossible to avoid the fact that political issues take the first positions nowadays and so use other spheres for own sake.
