Project Brief: We Stand Together Logo

This introductory Corporate Identity project will translate the recent charge for designers to create a graphic against hate (standtogether.us) into a series of three ‘logos’, one final version will be submitted to the #westandtogether project.

Example themes:

LOVE, HEALING, FORGIVENESS, EMPATHY, UNITY, RESPECT, KINDNESS, UNDERSTANDING, COMPASSION, TRUST, SOLIDARITY, DECENCY, HOPE, PEACE, TOLERANCE…

Specifications:

Size: 2" x 2"

Resolution: 300ppi

Colors: 2 maximum, + white

Required Content:

you must create three final versions of your logo/graphic: image only, type only, type+image combined

#westandtogether must be included somewhere in the 2" square (it should be small and separate from your logo, but stylistically coherent)

Process:

Choose a theme from the list or come up with your own (approval required). The same theme can be used by more than one student, but the messages must be unique (for example, you cannot just create a logo for the word LOVE, you must come up with a logo series on the topic of LOVE).

Brainstorm ideas for type+image using a logo matrix. Select a theme, then create brainstorming lists (antonyms, synonyms, idioms, quotes). Next, create a list of possible ideas for your logo design that combines two or more concepts (example: killing + kindness).

Visual Matrix: Create a matrix to force visual combinations you may not have thought of otherwise. Use these solutions as the jumping off point for your digital logo sketching.

DUE 8/31: 18 initial design explorations laid out in Illustrator (6 type, 6 image, 6 type + image), printed in a 2"x2" square.

DUE 9/5: Final 3 designs printed on high quality cover stock (inkjet or laser). Laptop+files to create accompanying #westandtogether design submission.
