What My Family Has Learned by Employing Immigrants

I’ve been startled by the animosity towards immigrants in the US over the past year — although I shouldn’t be. Immigration has long been one of Trump’s main talking points, and key criticisms of the Biden administration.

If you follow certain outlets, you’d think every person crossing the border is a thief or murderer. Elon Musk is now spreading xenophobia in Britain, with rapid fire posts, cherry picking criminals who’d entered the country illegally.

I’m saddened because, despite legitimate concerns about immigration, people have lost the plot — and a bit of their humanity.

My family runs a vineyard in Northern Virginia. It’s 60 acres and is typically packed with customers on the weekend. There’s a barn-bar for colder days, and outdoor wine stations as well. Kids often play on the sand piles outside with construction toys available:
