Quick Favor

Phrase:
“Quick favor”

How to Use It:
A “quick favor” is fish bait, and you’re the fish. It’s an innocent sounding ask used to trick a naive victim into becoming deeply involved in a project. Unless you’re okay with getting reeled onto the boat. Don’t bite.

Example:
Associate: Can I get a quick favor on an introductory meeting with a new client? It should be no more than switching some logos in our credentials deck.
[Four months later — the analyst is a junior member of the client’s FP&A team]
