Cosmic Champs NFT Premiere!
The unveiling of 3D animated play to earn NFTs on Algorand
The Cosmic Champs team showcased Hammer, Tertius, Coyote and Shadow Blade NFTs, from the Singularity Era, Season 1 launch of NFTs, in Brisbane June 16. The showcase was hosted by Algorand Foundation, Algorand Hub, and featured leading NFT projects including Algoanna, Australia Zoos, Tokens for Humanity and Alien Tourism.
Here’s the message from the team that we shared at the event, about our journey to this astronomical moment!
Today we are unveiling a selection of the first season of NFTs for Cosmic Champs. It’s taken a long time and a global team to turn the early concepts into the finished products you see tonight.
It started as a project over a year ago with two cofounders Matty and Simon, who is based in Slovenia. Now there’s a team of 20 people helping to realise the Cosmic Champs vision.
What makes our NFTs special is that each is a 3D model that will be used in our game when it launches. Adding this utility to our NFTs wasn’t without challenges. The initial character ideas were all created by our concept artist who is based in Sydney. He churned out concept after concept and Simon and Matty selected our favourites to develop into NFTs.
The next step was to commission 3D artists to create the base model for each character and rig them for movement. Then we had our concept artist come up with skin ideas for the characters and a team of 3D artists based in Australia, the US, Italy, Slovakia, and Peru hand painted these ideas onto the 3D models.
There is no automated method for creating skins for 3D models that can be used in-game so it was a very time consuming and expensive process!
Creating these NFTs was a Herculean effort from our team so thank you to all those involved and thank you to the Algorand community for supporting us. We’re very proud of what we’ve created and can’t wait to see how the community responds!
