Cosmic Champs is a real-time strategy game set in a retro-future where ships crewed by Champs traverse the cosmos, descending to do battle on hostile, resource-rich planets. Champs compete in online battle arenas in a tower-rush format, fighting tooth, nail and antenna for their share of Cosmic Gold and intergalactic fame.
In keeping with leading trends in the Web3 space, Cosmic Champs has been designed to allow users to have permanent ownership and take full control over their in-game assets while fostering new ways to build strong communities who share a love for the game and its eclectic cast of characters. P2E Landscape
We are pioneers of the real-time 3D play-to-earn space on the Algorand blockchain. As such, we are aiming to set a very high standard to ensure a bright play-to-earn future for the entire Algorand ecosystem.
Across industries, disruptions to traditional business models are polarising events. Businesses who are dependent on the traditional model are often outraged while end-users are often welcoming of change because it comes with lower costs and/or greater control and functionality. NFTs in the gaming industry is no exception. They provide users with full control of their in-game assets as they are free to use their assets in-game, withdraw them from the ecosystem, or sell them on a marketplace.
Our vision for Cosmic Champs’ NFTs is threefold:
- Add multiple types of gameplay that provide greater utility and value for Cosmic Champs NFTs. For example, we plan to develop spaceship battles so players can battle on the ground in the battle arenas with their Champs or in the cosmos with their Ships;
- Increase value for NFT holders by providing rewards outside of gameplay. For example, holders will be able to stake their NFTs or loan them to players to earn rewards;
- Create a Cosmic Champs metaverse with multiple games (Cosmic Champs being the first) and a VR environment where users can be embodied in their NFTs. In other words, their “skin” in the VR environment may be one of their Champ NFTs.
We are aware that the majority of daily active play-to-earn users are based in developing countries and interact with play-to-earn platforms as a source of income. Our research shows that these players are mostly using mobile devices with lower-end hardware. We will ensure that Cosmic Champs will work as intended on those devices.
Announcing the White Paper
Cosmic Champs is set to be a unique Play-to-Earn title, giving NFTs real value and providing a free-to-play mode where players can enjoy the game without any financial commitment.
Cosmic Champs is the first piece of our metaverse — a play-to-earn game that rewards its community. As time marches forward, we will add more games to the cosmos and Cosmic Champs NFTs will freely flow between these games. We’ll also add VR spaces and mini-games so our community can come together and embody their NFTs in fun and exciting ways. Cosmic Fashion will allow NFTs to be modified — who will have the most drip? We also plan to build a dedicated marketplace to exclusively trade our NFTs. This is a win for our community which will receive lower fees and a win for the ecosystem which will earn greater revenue.
Our governance token, Cosmic Gold (COSG), will rule our metaverse. When we transition to a DAO, holders of Cosmic Gold will steer the ship. It will also be used to fuel our creator economy. We’ll release creator tools so our community can contribute and be rewarded for helping build the Cosmic Metaverse.

Cosmic Champs Features
Cosmic Champs is a real-time strategy video game that combines elements of tower defence, multiplayer online battle arenas and collectible card games.
Cosmic Champs has a tower rush format where two players battle each other for three minutes and the objective is to destroy the opposing player’s base by any means possible. The winner takes home all the Treasure on offer and the loser leaves empty-handed.
Set in a retro-future 13,000 years from now, civilisation has stretched to the far reaches of the cosmos. An age of peace and prosperity comes to a shuddering halt when mysterious dark forces emerge, swallowing the universe and leaving only a few survivors scattered across the cosmos. The depths of space are now home to roaming ships crewed by ex-soldiers, hotwired robots and other misfits. They fondly refer to themselves as Champs and they are after one thing — a payday! They search for Cosmic Gold and planets rich in resources to mine and often find that they are not alone. Champs battle each other in a winner takes all arena.
Cosmic Champs has been designed and built with the following considerations:
- The game must be fun for casual players and have the depth to attract hardcore gamers and competitive players;
- Cosmic Champs needs to be entertaining in its own right, even with the blockchain elements removed;
- Anyone should be able to play, even if they do not have Cosmic Champs NFTs;
- There should be a fair playing field. The Cosmic Champs NFTs provide advantages, but not so great that they can’t still be beaten with earned skill;
- “Play-to-Earn” should be a key feature, rather than the core game itself;
- Cosmic Champs should utilise and expand on successful DeFi concepts like staking and earning.
Players can buy, sell, and trade Cosmic Champs NFTs on a marketplace using COSG. When we launch, we will have our own page on an existing marketplace for exclusively trading our NFTs. Each transaction will incur a small royalty fee that goes into the community treasury to help the Cosmic Champs ecosystem flourish. Our vision is to build our own marketplace so we can simultaneously reduce fees for users and increase the flow of revenue to the community treasury. It’s a win-win!
In the future, our team aims to develop more games and minigames. We want to provide our NFTs with real utility and value. For now, Cosmic Champs can be enjoyed from launch in its entirety as a free-to-play game.

As the access to smartphone technology and 4G/5G networks increases in emerging markets, we expect the total gaming market and mobile games to continue to increase in value at a rapid rate.
According to NonFungible.com, the global NFT market exploded in 2021. The value of NFT transactions grew from US $84 million in 2020 to US $17 billion in 2021. That’s an astounding 21,350% increase over a 12-month period. NonFungible.com noted that “all indicators continue to increase, with the number of wallets in use of both buyers and sellers ever increasing. Note that the number of sellers is growing faster than the number of buyers, which may suggest that the conversion of ‘new entrants’ to become ‘NFT traders’ is accelerating.”
A similar trend can be observed in the NFT market on Algorand. From July 2021 the monthly USD value of NFT transactions rose sharply and continued to rise into 2022.
The NFT market is in its infancy but the trends are undeniable: users have embraced NFTs and believe they are here to stay. In support of this, DappRadar found that NFTs (and games) were largely resistant to cryptocurrency price fluctuations observed late in 2021. Games are the perfect funnel to bring new users into blockchain ecosystems. As more games incorporate blockchain technology, the number of users and value of the NFT market will increase.
