November Community Update
Decipher 22, Season 2 NFTs, Cosmic Quests, Play with Matty and more
We can’t believe it’s nearly the end of 2022! Here’s our penultimate community update for the year, before we wrap up the last twelve months with a final community update showcasing all the highlights from the year, and a sneak preview of what will be a mega 2023!
Decipher 22
Algorand’s leading GameFi projects came together to showcase their games in the Gaming Lounge at Decipher 22. Led by Algorand’s Head of Gaming, Piergiacomo Palmisani, the Gaming Lounge enabled Cosmic Champs, Alchmon, Trantorian, Aegir Tactics, Alvatars, Polynize and Zone to provide demos of their games to the crowds of attendees at Decipher. Decipher is Algorand’s yearly showcase of builders, founders, investors, and strategists building the future on Algorand.
Season 2 NFTs
Throughout November, we’ve been releasing the game cards for the next season of Champs. Each week has featured competitions where you, our community, had the chance to win your very own Jax, Shockray, Pix, BFF, Cyclops, and Hawk NFT. The non-NFT versions of the season 2 Champs will be released into the closed beta game soon, with the NFTs available for purchase in the early new year.
Cosmic Quests
In November, we gave more than $2000 in COSG prizes to our community for participating in Cosmic Quests, a community building program running on Crew3. Every day, members of our community Tweeted, posted, voted, contributed fan art, and played the Cosmic Champs closed beta game to go in the running for a chance to top the leaderboard! It’s part of our mission here at Cosmic Champs to build a culture of growth that supports our game, our players, and our creators. New members are welcome to join the quests at any time, and the leaderboard resets each week.
Play with Matty
We’ve been hosting weekly “Play with Matty” sessions on the Cosmic Champs’ Twitch, where you get to battle Cosmic Champs Co-Founder Matty Blanchard one-on-one! Congratulations to all the community members who beat Matty in the closed beta! They all picked up COSG rewards for their victories. We’re still hosting weekly play with Matty sessions on Twitch so drop in and put your skills to the test. In December, sessions will be held Sunday 8PM UTC.
My Algo AR 3D NFT Viewer
In November, My Algo wallet added AR functionality for 3D NFTs. As one of the few 3D NFTs on Algorand, we were thrilled by the community response playing with Cosmic Champs NFTs IRL! There were some great posts trying out this new option, and we’ve been enjoying more creative shots throughout November! You don’t need a Champ in your wallet — even a Commemorative Beta Pass is available in 3D view!
Cometa Staking
We launched a 60-day staking pool with Cosmic Champs DeFi partner Cometa during November. Congratulations to Cometa, who were runners up at a pitch competition during Decipher. To celebrate the launch of the pool, two hidden Helio NFTs were available to people who swapped tokens into COSG on the Cometa platform. Both Helio’s are now happily in their new owner’s wallets, and the staking pool is still running for another 30+ days. You can join anytime!
Fintech22
Akasha Rose, Growth Lead, represented Cosmic Champs at Australia’s premier annual Fintech event, Fintech 22. She hosted the Blockchain-Based Metaverse panel, with web3 illuminaries Kieren Warwick, Founder of Illuvium, Alyse Sue, KPMG Head of Metaverse, and Samantha Tauber, and renowned web3 digital creator, as her guests. The universal feedback was that it was the best panel of the day, providing new insights into the technology, gaming, new economic models for creators, and social and cultural impacts of an interconnected web3 metaverse.
Development Updates
In November, we also launched our regular development updates from the dev team. The latest update features all the new upgrades to the Cosmic Champs closed beta game, including uncommon NFT integration, bigger champs, and zoomed in arena. What is COSG?
Our governance token, Cosmic Gold (COSG), rules the Cosmic Champs metaverse. COSG will be used to earn staking rewards, reward players for using the game (P2E), and buying NFTs. When we transition to a DAO, holders of COSG will steer the ship as they will vote on changes to the game. It will also be used to fuel our creator economy which will reward the community for helping build our metaverse.
The ASA ID for the COSG token is 1065092715. To receive COSG rewards, you’ll need to opt into COSG with your Algorand wallet.
ABOUT COSMIC CHAMPS
Cosmic Champs is a play to earn, tower rush, real time strategy game developed by gaming studio, Mad Shapes. It aims to remove many of the existing barriers of entry for typical P2E games. This means it’s mobile first and no wallet, tokens, or NFTs are required to play. These innovations position Cosmic Champs to become the benchmark for crypto games in GameFi.
