Maybe, you are wondering what the main characteristics of leaders in the digital era are. Cosmoleadership’s team presents you 5+1 skills that a true leader should have in the digital era:

1. Tech-savvy. Leaders should embrace technology and know-how to best leverage it to serve their company.

2. Great coach. As a leader, you should motivate and encourage your team to make their best. Employees are much more productive if they are aligned with the company’s vision.

3. Good communicator. It is important to make clear what leaders ask from their team and their goals. So, they will not micromanage.

4. Empathetic. According to Laura Wilcox, director of management programs at Harvard Extension School, “Emotional intelligence — the ability to, say, understand your effect on others and manage yourself accordingly — accounts for nearly 90 percent of what moves people up the ladder when IQ and technical skills are roughly similar.”

5. Willing to take calculated risks. The landscape of leadership in the digital era is full of challenges. However, don’t be afraid of taking calculated risks to achieve your goals.

6. Future-focused. Being a futurist makes organizations proactive and better prepared for what the future might bring.

As you can easily understand, future leadership will be a combination of traditional and digital skills. However, the main difference will be the impact of technology. We are curious to see what else will change in leadership in the next decades.
