EXPLORE COSMOS #2

The cosmos Africa team held the second edition of the ‘EXPLORE COSMOS’ series which will be 5 in total, the event was held on the 28 th day of August 2020 , with the students of Engineering, in attendance. the recap of events is as follows.

Event started at 3:00 pm with the opening remarks by the host mr nana, in the opening remarks he gave a brief introduction about his background in the crypto space and the journey so far, he also spoke about how he attended one of the events that was organised by the cosmos Africa leader mr. chidi and how he became a volunteer towards spreading mass adoption of the blockchain technology in Africa where it is most needed .other attendants to the event also took time to introduce themselves and their various backgrounds and experience in the space .

The event commenced proper with a presentation by the speaker which focused more on scalability and the cosmos advantage, he detailed the scalability issues faced by most blockchains and some attempts made by other chains to solve it and highlighted why cosmos is unique in its solution ,he gave instances of the network congestion which leads to very high fees faced by bitcoins and also sighted a clear example with ethereum whose gas fees is very expensive at the moment due to limitations in the number of transactions it can handle per second. he also took feedbacks and questions from the audience with an announcement of the next event which will be taking place on the 6th of September, he also stated that focus will be on interoperability. one of the attendants suggested a solution that could enable sending funds to Africa using a native wallet and a stable coin such that recipients can easily get fiat. a group was created to discuss the idea further and how to develope it
