KYC guide ( Updated ) COSS.IO
Dear members of the community,
With v1.2 coming out, it’s a good time now to update our KYC requirements. You would be pleased to know that some of our requirements have been relaxed, although our procedures are still as stringent as before.
Our Compliance team will make efforts to reach out to you in the event of any discrepancies in your application.
This guide serves as a sort of self-checklist for you before you submit your documents.
There are 4 components in your KYC application:
- Proof of Identity ( any submitted documents with an expiry date has to be more than 6 months from the date of submission. Do note that this only applies for documents with expiry dates )
- Proof of Address (cannot be half page)
- A Selfie
- The data fields you input in COSS website itself
This guide will walk you through the requirements for each component.
Proof of Identity
We accept Passports and Government Issued Photo-IDs. We recommend International passports, as compared to some Government Issued Photo-IDs, because passports contain all the data fields we require.
These are the fields that MUST be present for a valid proof of identity :
- Name
- Nationality
- Date of Birth
Proof of Address
As explained in previous articles, we only accept the following for proof of address:
- Bank Statements issued within 3 months of application (most preferred)
OR
- Utility Bills (water/gas/electricity) issued within 3 months of application(most preferred)
OR
- A tax assessment issued within the year
OR
- Tenancy contracts issued within the year with the legal name of the customer, a residential address, a date of issue, and lastly, your signature alongside the landlord’s signature
OR
- Government Correspondence (subject to our satisfaction)
Please do NOT submit internet OR mobile/landline phone bills (No telecommunication bills of any kind).
We do not accept any handwritten documents.
Screenshots/Print screens are allowed AS LONG AS we can verify your full name, address and date of issue.
These documents have to be submitted in FULL page; cropped documents will be rejected.
Tax assessments, tenancy contracts and letters from recognized public authorities have to be translated into English.
You can censor your bank account number and your balance.
Here is another example:
A Selfie
1) Your head must face the camera directly with full face in view
2) You must have a neutral facial expression or a natural smile, with both eyes open
3) Taken in clothing normally worn on a daily basis
4) Taken in the last 6 months
5) Use a plain white or off-white background
6) Taken with your proof of identity AND a piece of paper that clearly shows your name,date and COSS.io written on it
The following illustrations show a correct example and some unacceptable examples.
We accept JPG, GIF, PNG, TIFF or PDF formats.
