Brooklyn Apple Academy Spotlight
Brooklyn Apple Academy is a fantastic resource for parents looking for an homeschool or afterschool for their children. They have a focus on experiential education, which allows students to explore the world around them. Children come with an innate curiosity, and Brooklyn Apple encourages this spirit and develops it. Brooklyn Apple currently has several amazing opportunities for this year. Some of them include:
Brooklyn Apple Academy!

Brooklyn Apple is a Monday-Friday, 9am-2:45pm homeschool for children 6–14. Students are given time to play outside, be curious, and become independent learners and use their hands to develop their minds.
STEAM Day at Brooklyn Apple!

STEAM Day is every Monday, includes morning, afternoon, and afternoon extension options for children 8–14. The class is taught by artists, professionals and teachers that encourage students to work through self-directed projects to guide and encourage learning!
Tinkering School at Brooklyn Apple!

Tinkering is offered Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 3–6 for kids 1–13! Tinkering School operates on the idea that children are more capable and skilled than they know. If we give children the tools and autonomy, they will grow and find creative solutions to solve problems. Students are constantly able to try new things, with access to a woodshop, kitchen, library, crafting materials, and more.
Voice of the Children: Youth Art and Activism!

Voice of the children is an afterschool program every Monday for children 12–16. The program encourages self-management, leadership and delegating skills to children who want to make constructive change. They produce tools such as zines and learn how to write to public officials and encourage those around them to create change as well.
Voice of the Children Zine!

Voice of the Children Zine is an afterschool program every Wednesday for children 8–16. In this workshop young artists, poets, and writers have the opportunity to develop, print and disseminate their ideas using linoleum and woodcut prints and our very own letterpress. We then reproduce hand-printed copies of our zine, bind them, and find ways to sell them to the public.
Voice Of The Children: Let’s Fix The World!

Voice of the Children is an afterschool program that has a first semester and second semester option, meeting every Thursday for kids 9–12. By making actual impacts on the world around them, children learn empowerment while simultaneously helping to make a difference. We examine local and global current events, discussing activism from young people’s perspectives, and introducing artistic tools and processes for voicing our concerns.
Voice Of The Children: Play, Move, & Act For Activism!

Voice of the children: Play, Move and Act for Activism is an afterschool program offered both first semester and second semester every Thursday for children 6–9. Voice of the Children facilitates activities that advocate young people’s civil rights and autonomy. In this workshop, young people learn to emphasize use of their body as an expressive tool for activism, using body language as a way of communicating without sound. Children participate in free play, intentional movement, and use of space, reworking their movements until the group has come to a desirable outcome for the resolution.
