Penn State — Michigan Wrap-up

Penn State beat Michigan in what I would call a wildly unimpressive 28–21 game. After an electric first quarter PSU really didn’t do anything worth noting. KJ Hamler is certainly the man but Clifford can’t just heave the ball to him every snap. When we play good teams (Ohio State) he is going to have to check down to Freiermuth or one of the 4 running backs.

Once again, the play calling left a lot to be desired. We were dominating the ball on the ground but James Franklin just refused to pound the ball, it doesn’t make sense. He obsesses over these screen passes and deep attempts, which results in several 3 and outs. Next thing you know a 21 point lead disappears and the crowd is dead. Thank god Clifford hit Hamler for that last deep ball or else we are having a wildly different Sunday morning.

I know I’m being critical but the reality is, every single game is preparation for Ohio State. They are going to go undefeated, and if we don’t stop them, they will win the Big 10 and probably the National Championship. That’s a world I don’t want to live in.
