Our research activities of a virtual human agent by Couger, which integrates Machine Learning, Brain Science, and Game AI, are partially open to the public.

This event will discuss technologies for searching and detecting complex meanings in natural language processing.

Speakers

Qiang Zhang | NLP Researcher at Couger ; PhD at The University of Tokyo
After getting bachelor degree of computer science, Qiang started the master degree of computer science in NLP at Kyoto University, Japan. During the master’s course, he participated in the Riken AIP project and developed multiple human-computer interaction applications on VR platform, including VRCE and TSEiA. After graduating from Kyoto University in 2019, he joined Couger as a NLP researcher and worked on project LanguageCortex as dialogue system for virtual human agent. From 2020, he started PhD course on dialogue system at The University of Tokyo and currently working on dialogue systems for mental peer support.

Kazuaki Hiraga|NLP and Semantic Memory Search Engineer at Couger
He has been involved in all technology development of large-scale search engines with daily traffic in the hundreds of millions at Infoseek, Rakuten, and Fast Search & Transfer, the core of Microsoft Search. At Couger, he is in charge of developing a search technology called “SemanticMemory”, which aims at human-like semantic memory.

Atsushi Ishii | Couger CEO
After working for IBM Japan, he was in charge of large-scale search engine development for Rakuten and Lycos. Since then, he has overseen online game development across Japan, the U.S., and Korea, provided technical cooperation to the top teams in the Amazon Robotics Challenge, provided AI learning simulators to Honda, and overseen NEDO cloud robotics development. Representative of Blockchain EXE, a blockchain community. He is currently developing the human-like AI platform “LUDENS”. Lecturer of the 2018 AI Special Lecture at Stanford University. Former visiting researcher at the University of Electro-Communications. Regional head of Japan at Enterprise Ethereum Alliance.
