China is now equal to the USA in terms of being a technology powerhouse. Not only Shanghai, but also Beijing, Shenzhen, and Hangzhou are home to many global IT companies competing on a high level.

Despite less than one month of preparation, with the support of Hitachi, teams from Japan, Korea, China, and Singapore participated in this hackathon.

Couger Inc., which co-sponsored the Hackathon, participated as judge/mentor

Couger Inc.’s chief blockchain engineer Ishiguro participated as a judge.

From a given task list, participants were asked to brainstorm ideas and create their own service/product in two days.

From Couger Inc., CTO Takahashi joined as Mentors, and Ishiguro, the Chief blockchain architect from Coguer Inc., joined as Mentor and Judge. For Takahashi and Ishiguro, who are usually doing blockchain research and technological development, working as a mentor was very precious time.

A heated Hackathon!

To shape their ideas, participants had to work very hard from morning to evening for those short two days. It’s impressive how they managed to capture and form their ideas and potential products, such as bringing their own IoT devices, creating prototypes, etc.

The winner was a group from Shanghai Institute of Technology and Zhejiang Gongshang University named “Pyxiss”, which presented an algorithm for solving blockchain privacy issues.

China is full of talented young people

The hackathon gathered many students. It was a fun time for talented young people to enter the blockchain world and create and implement ideas to the fullest extent. Even after the event, participants will be exchanging information in WeChat and other ways. Therefore, the hackathon may become much more than just a temporary event, and be the start of deep, lasting relationships.
