You, probably

We here at Countable want to help you to better understand your government and make it easier for you to participate in politics.

Let’s be real: Washington is confusing. And double-speak, partisan fights and selective facts — not to mention all those acronyms (DOJ, NDAA, BLM, TPP, NSA, Ex-Im, CBO, etc.) — isn’t helping. Our belief is that democracy is best-served by a well-informed public. You shouldn’t need a law degree to understand what your members of Congress are up to and where the candidates for president plan to take your country.

That’s why we spend our days summarizing congressional legislation and breaking down tough political concepts in a way that’s actually easy to understand and making it simpler than ever for you to share your opinions and contact your reps about the issues you care about.

But we need your help. (No, we’re not asking for money). We want to know what questions you have about politics, be it about legislation, how campaigns work, what that policy the presidential candidates are arguing over actually means or one of the aforementioned acronyms that you’ve never understood but keep hearing on the news.

That’s why today we’re launching a new forum for your questions and ideas because we want Countable to be useful to you.

Let’s get your questions answered: questions@countable.us

If you have a great question and we don’t have the answer, we’ll go out and find it.

Have you ever wondered why marijuana was outlawed in the U.S. in the first place or what Dodd-Frank is really about? What Brexit means for America or what the heck happened with Hillary Clinton’s email server? Why do Democrats and Republicans use the donkey and elephant symbols or what is a discharge petition in Congress? Well, we’ve got you there. What questions can we tackle next?

This is not about partisanship or an agenda. We want to break down some of the biggest and most complex issues in politics and lay out both sides so that you can form your own opinion and share it with those who represent you in government. (And we’re happy diving into some of the smaller and less complex issues too!) These questions are totally anonymous, so you can feel safe asking our experts anything. And keep your eye on Countable for the answers.

So, holler at us. How can we help?
