We all have days where everything seems a little harder to handle. Everything seems to be falling to pieces rather than into place, and you’re there left with the aftermath.

Adversities are always there in one form or another. Either a relationship has ended; a loved one has passed; you’ve failed in something you’ve been trying your best for; or even a job you’ve been fired from. We’re all going through something harsh and difficult. Something that slams us into reality so brutally that it becomes impossible to get up.

This list is here to say somethings to you that maybe people around you have not been able to say. This list is to comfort you so you let yourself feel everything.

1. We’re Gonna be Alright by Before You Exit

Yes, we are starting this with this brilliant song. Each sentence is a warm hug with the soothing voices of each of Before You Exit’s singers (Riley, Conor, and Toby McDonough).

This ballad will give you the straight forward affirmation that we’re gonna be alright and not let you feel sick of hearing it again. Because we all are aware that things will be okay, just that we don’t know when. And sometimes somethings are comforting when they are said with empathy.

Did you wish to disappear?
Riverbed thats made of tears you’ve cried
But we’re gonna be alright
We’re gonna be alright

2. So You Can Cry by Ne-Yo

There is nothing more healing than just letting out all of those tears that you’ve been holding onto. No matter what problem you are facing, nothing is worth keeping your feelings bottled up for.

Ne-Yo also advises crying in his gentle and soothing track. Someone telling you to cry it out is a person you should be grateful for and if there is no one there to tell you that — don’t fret. Put some headphones on and listen to Ne-Yo croon about all the things he is willing to do so you can just cry it out.

I’ll ask the sun to shine away from you today so you can cry
(If that’s what you want, alright)
I’ll ask the clouds to bring the rain for you today so you can cry

3. Do You Feel Like You Have No One To Turn To? by Yayyoung

You don’t have to answer that question, and you don’t have to go through whatever you are dealing with all on your own. The song is hopeful and comforting in the way it reminds us that even if there isn’t someone with you to share your pain — you still have the moonlight.

Maybe the long night that you think is making things more difficult, is actually there to let you feel your pain in its darkness.

There are times when you feel you can never be okay
You can just be still for a while,
You don’t have to try

4. Solar Eclipse by Before You Exit

Before You Exit really know what’s up and they really know about pain, judging from their music. This is another ballad from them that is comforting in the best way possible.

The least you deserve when in pain or suffering is the affirmation that this will pass. That whatever you are going through is temporary and that the darkness is only there so you can breathe easy and find the strength to get back up again.

It’s only a solar eclipse, love
Sun is coming back again

5. Hold on to Me by Valerie Broussard

What you always need is a hug, if we’re being completely honest. I always need a hug to realize that everything will be okay. And so in this inspiring track Valerie Broussard is doing just that — comforting us with the promise of holding onto us. Well, holding on to her, actually.

‘Cause when you feel like you’ve been falling
Hold on to me
And when the river sweeps you right off your feet
Hold on to me

6. Healing by FLETCHER

I ain’t there yet, but I’m healing — and so are you, even if you are unaware of it as of yet. When we’re going through something difficult, our situation is the only thing revolving around our heads. You don’t need to be reminded about the experiences you’ve had and all that you’ve been through.

You’re a brave person and you will rise. FLETCHER will definitely make sure of it because of this lyrically powered song. Each sentence is so carefully crafted — the song should be appreciated more than it is!

I can’t erase all the things that’s I’ve done
But all the mistakes made me who I’ve become

7. Keep Breathing by Ingrid Michaelson

We all know that the world is falling apart. It’s all over the news channels, all over the newspapers and even social media. But while the world is crumbling, our lives are also going through horrible changes for sure. And sometimes, we can’t do anything for any of these happenings.

We can’t change the world — sometimes we can’t even change the situations we’re in and the only thing that we can actually do is to keep breathing.

All we can do is keep breathing now

This piece was inspired from a playlist I created on Spotify to comfort myself from the happenings of everyday life. You can find the entire playlist here, and you are free to read more of my work, right here on medium. You are also free to support me here. Thank you for reading!
