This morning the Twitterverse awoke to a new logo (and new name?) for Twitter: X.

It’s kind of a strange move for a major platform to change its name, especially to something this unmemorable. As for the “interim” logo, it looks like a marketing student cooked it up between their college classes.

Not even a trendy, flashing electronic version can save it:

The appointed leader of Twitter (or X or whatever), Linda Yaccarino, had this to say when the new branding was launched:

“X is the future state of unlimited interactivity — centered in audio, video, messaging, payments/banking — creating a global marketplace for ideas, goods, services, and opportunities. Powered by AI, X will connect us all in ways we’re just beginning to imagine.”
