Is Seiko finally back as the low budget champion? This watch says it might be.

Recently, Seiko have been… disappointing to say the least.

I have spoken previously about their gobsmacking quality control issues and their constant rise in prices (here). This problem got so big that at one point I completely refrained from purchasing another new Seiko watch for my personal collection.

But like Johnny Depp after Amber Heard’s third literal shit-fest on his bed in a week; I remained naively hopeful that maybe things would change. However, year after year, disappointing or simply uninteresting releases made their way out of Seiko’s assembly line.

Orient seemed to be the new kid on the block in terms of affordability and for many, Seiko news was about as exciting as watching a dead turtle race.

Until now.

What I have here for you today might literally be a game changer not just for Seiko but the entire low budget arena of watchmaking. It’s literally been YEARS since I got properly excited for a Seiko release.

I am talking about one of the most affordable in-house GMT models you can buy on the market today. Meet the Seiko 5 Sports GMT.
