Creativity Is Not a Luxury~ It’s More Like Sustenance
Perfection or art for art’s sake? And days to be alive
‘Your poetry is bad and you blame the news’
Do I even care if my poetry is bad?
I need a break, but I can’t not create. As such, I must take a break from everything that is not creation and from any deliberate extra effort. I need flow, so I have always enjoyed taking some time to write stream-of-consciousness-style pieces instead of the usual well-researched articles on semi-academic philosophical topics.
“Your poetry is bad and you blame the news. But I can’t change that and I can’t change your mood” — Lana Del Rey
Regarding my favourite form of expression, there is no context: poetry is the language through which I understand the world and try to be understood. But my poetry is at best mediocre. To steal the words of Lana Del Rey, I am a self-loathing poet whose poetry is bad and blames the world for it. That hasn’t stopped me from writing: my poor Samsung Notes app only has a break when I decide to jot down something on paper or directly on a Medium draft, the rest of the time it is slaving away for my dirty or depressing lines.
