For Part Two Of Her Trilogy, Tinashe Unleashes Her Inner Freak
A review of Tinashe’s seventh album, ‘Quantum Baby’
Tinashe’s journey through the music industry is just as much a warning as it is an inspiring tale. Growing up in Los Angeles, Tinashe’s parents helped her enter the entertainment industry at a young age. By three, she had been modeling for brands and getting roles in films like Masked and Anonymous and The Polar Express. Over the same period, she was learning how to sing and dance by taking classes all year round.
Tinashe’s inspirations early in her career included choreography-focused pop stars like Janet Jackson and Brittney Spears. For Tinashe, dance was just as important for her to gain mastery over as it was songwriting and singing. As she engaged in different creative projects, from acting to joining a popular girl band in her teen years, Tinashe always wrote and made music for herself. Her dream was to become a solo artist, and when she finally had enough songs under her belt in 2013, she released her debut EP, In Case We Die.
