Griselda is more than just a female crime story; it’s about the fatality of greed and the missed opportunities of motherhood.

Netflix’s crime drama tells the story of the rise and fall of Columbian drug lord, Griselda Blanco. Sofía Vergara gives a cathartic performance as the ambitious Godmother of Cocaine. It’s a full-circle moment having a Columbian director and a female lead to tell such a story. Singer Karol G also has a minor role as Carla, one of her trusted employees.

Set in late ‘70s Miami, Griselda breaks out as the female Narcotics leader. She was a woman obsessed with survival, using what she knew instead of living an ordinary life. Through her difficult struggle, she fought to earn respect. She becomes a drug lord based on her strategy and clever tactics.

Sofía gives an intimate portrayal of the female drug leader from start to finish. In six episodes, we see her turn from prey to predator. She’s a single mother who does what she knows best, her independence helping throughout. It’s clear from the first episode who will betray the main character.

Griselda goes from being robbed to murdering people for top drug lords. Without her…
