It’s no secret that Starbucks can get expensive. By the time you’ve added salted caramel cold foam to your light ice shaken espresso, it’s nearly six bucks. $6. For sugar, milk, and caffeine.

But I’ll be damned if I stop.

That’s why when this new opportunity fell into my lap I was thrilled.

Crowdtap

To help fuel this coffee addiction I started looking around for extra ways to make a little money. It didn’t need to be anything amazing — I certainly wasn’t going to work a second job just to afford coffee. I just needed the odd pocket money for a Starbucks treat.

I found Crowdtap through the “beermoney” subreddit , an aptly named subreddit dedicated to making a little extra money on the side for beer. Or in our case — coffee.

Crowdtap is a survey app, plain and simple. You download, sign up, and start answering surveys right away. Some surveys you’re the right demographic for and you get anywhere between 10–80 (I’ve had the occasional 100+) points per survey. Some surveys you’re not the right demographic for but you still get a participation trophy of 3 whole points. (Trust me, still a lot more than most other survey apps/sites give).

By filling out these surveys, you’re helping companies improve their products or give ideas and feedback on new offerings. There’s always a lot of surveys about grocery shopping habits as well as tech usage.

It didn’t take long until I had racked up 1,000 points. This is the minimum you need to cash out a gift card. 1,000 points = $5. It might seem daunting, but getting this amount of points took less than 30 minutes.

All I had to do was open the app on my phone and start answering some questions during a lunch break, in the bathroom, at night before bed…whenever I found free time that I was usually just relaxing, I instead began ‘crowd tapping’.

And it quickly added up.

At one point I was nearly earning a $5 Starbuck gift card each day. For a trivial amount of time and effort.

Starbucks Rewards

With my newfound method of bringing in a little extra coffee money my Starbucks reward points quickly began rising. If you’re unaware, Starbucks has a reward system that rewards you in “stars” for each purchase. There are often promotions that reward extra stars or even free drinks.

When you bring in your own Starbucks reusable cup, you get 10c off your order and an additional 25 stars. 150 stars is a free handcrafted drink.

See where this is going? After 6 drinks you get one free. Not a bad deal when you consider the money you’re now spending at Starbucks comes from a survey app that you can earn while you use the bathroom.

With relative ease I make about $55 a month in Starbucks gift cards from Crowdtap which is about 9 drinks at $6 each (I told you those fancy drinks get expensive — and that’s only a grande). Add the extra free drink at 150 stars and I’m averaging 10 a month.

Now that’s a lot of sugar.

If you want to give this a go yourself, I recommend giving Crowdtap a shot. It’s in the app store or you can use the affiliate link below to receive 100 extra points.

Don’t forget to sign up for Starbucks rewards too so you can maximize your coffee earnings!

Give a clap or a comment if you enjoyed the read and are interested in more little hustles!
