Why are there so many movies on romantic, tragic love, infidelity, or something related? Romantic love and marriage are important aspects of life but I feel they are overrated.

In fact, friendship gives a solid foundation to love or partnership. So why don’t we talk more about the crucial role of friends in our lives? The social functions of friends are highly underrated in society in comparison to marriage and love.

Love is intense but friendship is stable, love makes you smile but friends make you laugh. So why don’t we talk more about investing and nurturing our friendships the same way we do for romantic love?

We meet different people in our school, university, workplace, and connect with a few during these phases of life. We choose our friends out of so many people and that does make them special in some way.

Friends act as your support system in times of crisis and challenges in life. One reason why the TV series, ‘FRIENDS’ is so famous even after so many years is that everyone connects with it. The fights, games, stupidity, and chaos, all are a part of their friendship. This mixture itself makes us feel happy in life. (A note for the characters- Monica and Chandler, you guys make me feel so jealous. They married their best friend.)

Friendship is the wine of life. -Edward Young

Friends are there with you in your good and bad times. They will fight with you but will return to continue being a part of your life. Money, fame, and new relationships will never harm a friendship if you put your time and effort into it. Can we start to value our friends more in life? Can we plan our weeks to spend with our friends?

A friend is what the heart needs all the time. -Henry van Dyke

As I move ahead in my life. I realize that empathetic and kind friends have a huge impact on my choices, decisions, and approach in life. I want to live a life where I have time, money, and the energy to visit my friends often and welcome them as well. My friends are a happy part of my life and they add value to me.

How do your friends influence you or have changed your life?
