Two stories of public art and its annihilation

It’s been about four years since I’ve been in Lawrence, Kansas, the blue oasis in the Midwest. The city has long been a gathering place for outsiders and rabblerousers, dating back a century and a half when the town’s reputation as a center for abolitionism drew the ire of pro-slavery radicals.
