I have been living in the Netherlands since 2019, but soon after Covid hit and we were locked inside our homes for more than 2 years. But, last weekend, I finally visited the much-hyped and always talked about tourist place of the Netherlands — Keukenhof.

But before I share details about my visit, and my review of the garden as a whole —

Let’s look at a brief history of tulips in the Netherlands.

Tulips are not new or recent in the Netherlands, there are over 600 years of history associated with them. They were imported from the Ottoman Empire (present-day Turkey), and soon after they became an important commodity in the country. So important, that the modern-day stock market is inspired by Tulip trading!

There’s a term that economists often use to describe cryptocurrency — Tulipmania. Yes, that originated in the Netherlands.
