What better way to start off ‘Scooby Month’ than with what most fans consider to be the best ‘Scooby-Doo’ movie?

This is the one that would play on TV the most when I was a kid, usually on Cartoon Network. Like most Fall seasons as a kid, it wouldn’t be October if I hadn’t watched this one at least three times.

So, does it hold up after 25 years, or will it sink to the bottom of the bayou? Ghouls and ghosties, I present to you ‘Scooby-Doo on Zombie Island’.

The film follows the Mystery Gang reuniting after taking a break from mystery-solving to help Daphne find a real haunted house for her show. Things get spooky when the gang finds themselves on an island full of ghosts, peppers, and zombies.

The story here is great. It is a mystery that finds the right balance of misdirection and simplicity that will make it easy for kids to follow without pandering. Even as an adult, I was surprised to find how many layers to this case there really were.
