‘The Handmaid's Tale’: Maiden, Mother And Crone
A transforming trifecta of life, suffering, and knowledge
“I am rooted, but I flow.”
― Virginia Woolf
I have written on The Triple Goddess twice, once recently on the vision of Gertrude Abercrombie and some time ago on the superb horror film Relic (2020) see below, which strangely enough was on TV last night and which I watched again.
I find this tripartite metamorphosis of the female an intriguing and powerful one and it touches something deep within me. I was first made aware of The Triple Goddess by Sadie Seroxcat the editor of Counter Arts, Rainbow Salad and now a brand new publication Seroxcat’s Salon.
I was thoroughly interested in her piece that discussed the three phases of a woman’s life or as it has been defined under the Triple Goddess framing Maiden, Mother, and Crone. But it was the Crone that Sadie looked at in detail as that stage now resonated with her more emphatically as she had transitioned into this phase of her life.
