Upon first glance, many may wonder as to why she is so famous. You may see nothing but a simple composition with the focal point of the painting being that of a silk merchant's wife, Lisa del Giocondo. Yes, she is painted by a genius, but does she really deserve to be so highly coveted? After all, there are other masterpieces of more complex compositions and of equally skilled if not better painters. Regardless of what you or I may think, there is no denying that she has captured the hearts and intrigue of millions if not billions of people for centuries, and yet still remains at the forefront of pop culture.
