I don’t always follow my own rules, and ‘rules’ may not be the term to use after all, but I do give myself some general guidelines. In life, sure, but also with possessions, especially books. As a would-be avid reader, I tell myself that I should prioritise non-fiction on Audible, especially the ‘obviously trying to teach me something’ kind of books, and when it comes to borrowing from the library. Fiction can be listened to, but not if my very core tells me: Jess, you need this with you forever.

Still, would that stop my buying power?

No. Only my more financially conservative partner could slow down my book-buying (and is unfortunately semi-successful in her aim). But, oh lawd, there are those weeks where not even JC coming down from a golden cloud could stop me. And I fucking love it.

I even like the feeling of buying (and reading…sometimes) ebooks, audiobooks, etc. But…
