“According to the myths, the gods tie an invisible red string around the little finger of people who are destined to be soul mates and will one day marry each other.”

“It can get twisted and knotted… But it will never be broken…”

There are about 8 billion people in the world. That’s a big number, finding a soulmate in such a big number is a great task. A person who is destined to be with you and live alongside you till your death, a bond that would never be broken.

In the original historic myth of the Chinese. “Red String of true love”. It is tied around the ankles of the parties. As the name suggests it’s about finding one true love. According to the myths, it was called destined love, a connection made by gods by tying a thread to both parties.

While in Japanese culture, it was believed that the string was bound from the male’s thumb to the female’s little finger.

Fascinating isn’t it… As per Korean culture. The red thread is bound from the male’s little finger to the female’s little finger.

Interestingly, it was followed by many cultures around the world in the form of different names. According to Indian culture, during the time of the wedding ceremony, the bride should hold the little finger of the groom.

According to Chinese legend, the god of marriage, the celestial in charge of “Red Thread” is believed to be Yuè Xià Lǎorén (月下老人). He appears as an old man under the moon. He is considered to be the “Chinese Cupid”. People believe that he signifies their wish by winding a thin, red string around their waists.

The same person known to be “An Old man under the Moon” is also commonly in Japanese culture as Red Thread.

Gekka Hyoujin (月下氷人), was called “an old Man under the moon and a person over the ice” in Japanese myths. The person commonly called

“Divine matchmaker” who knots people together with the red string of fate, before they are born.

Why the red? In Chinese culture red is given great value, which symbolizes happiness; it is also prominently seen in Chinese weddings.

According to the Japanese myths of Red string; both parties will be bound even before they are born. I.e., “Destined Love”.

This magical tangle was believed to be powerful, in a way that it can never be broken even during any catastrophes. As we can notice, this is something similar to the Western concept of “Soulmates”.

The bond of unspoken love,

The bond of Trust,

The bond of life,

The bond together,

Hope to be together…

Wouldn’t it be so great to know that there is actually someone just for you, waiting somewhere in the world who might have encountered you before but you never know that he/she is the one

Wouldn’t be so cool and awesome to know that there is someone out there looking and waiting for you to meet together and love you no matter what it may cost.

Wouldn’t it be so amazing to know that there is someone for you to say that you are not alone… You are not alone

There are so many beautiful stories in Chinese culture that feature the beauty of “Red String ‘’…

Well! Hope you get your person soon, the one who is bound to be with you, your true love…
