In our school there are various individuals who dedicate their time to help people who are desperately in need. They have successfully donated numerous items and funds to local shelters or nonprofit organizations. Recently, the Interact Club and the Junior Class have graciously started fundraisers that focus on benefiting those who are in need of certain materials due to the circumstances that they are in.

To start off, Interact Club member Kabir Daniels has initiated a Teens for Jeans drive, which has done tremendously well in gathering a diverse collection of jeans for a local shelter in Jersey City. Additionally, Interact Club President April Kibalo and Co-Fundraising Officer Gianella Brignoni have instituted a breakfast drive for the York Street Project, a non-profit organization that aims to help women with education, housing, and childcare to create self-fulfilled, self-sufficient lives. Ultimately, the Interact Club will continue to create a change within the Jersey City community and beyond.

Moreover, the Junior Class has focused on collecting the necessary supplies for those who have been affected by the recent hurricane in Puerto Rico. Junior Sara Beshai saw the horrific damage done to the island and sprung into action by creating a drive for those affected by this disaster; Sara stated, “I examined various videos and articles of people in Puerto Rico who couldn’t get ahold of basic supplies that are a necessity. We often take things for granted.” The Junior Class has successfully completed their goal by collecting over sixty items for those affected by the storm. Overall, their gracious effort is truly appreciated by all.

Cheers to all helping hands who put their time and dedication into these amazing projects!
