Top 10 Netflix Must Watch Shows

Based on my personal taste and that of my peers, here are a compilation of ‘Must Watch’ Netflix shows. I tried to include shows from various genres and take in consideration of the ratings they received from Rotten Tomatoes. Whether it be a show you want to binge watch or a fierce thriller, I think I compiled a pretty solid list. I hope you enjoy them as much as my friends and I do.

Friends — If you haven’t heard of this show, then you live under a rock because this is the most iconic 90’s show there is along with Full House. It is a show about six middle-aged friends who go through the struggles of life in the Big Apple (AKA New York).

  • Rotten Tomatoes = N/A but 94% want to watch

The Office — The Office is one of the funniest shows to binge watch. It’s about a paper company in Scranton, Pennsylvania being filmed for a documentary for over nine years. It sounds boring, but their adventures and mishaps are what make the show so comical and enticing. This show is funny, weird, and has a few love interests that occur among the co-workers.

  • Rotten Tomatoes = N/A but 88% want to watch

Black Mirror — This show is one of the most intense shows I have ever watched. There are four seasons and each episode is an individual story that incorporates the future and its modern technology. The first episode is definitely one of the craziest things I’ve ever witnessed but this show is graphic so I don’t advise you to watch it if you’re underage or uncomfortable with graphic scenes. I enjoy this show so much because it changes your entire viewpoint of the future and how society treats us. Each episode is so beautifully written and even when you brush past a tiny detail, it can turn into something important very quickly.

  • Rotten Tomatoes = 96%

Stranger Things — A 90’s based thriller-Stranger Things-is a captivating science fiction show about a group of three friends befriending a girl with psychokinetic and telepathic abilities. Their journey starts when one of the friends goes mysteriously missing and they try their best to find him. As they look for their friend, they discover and unfold secrets that were withheld from the town by the government. They battle monsters and their own individual crisis’. It is full of plot twists and the actors are genuinely so talented that they each portray their characters in a unique way. I loved both seasons so much that I watched it again.

  • Rotten Tomatoes = 94%

How To Get Away With Murder — I haven’t personally watched this, but most of my friends seem to love it. It deals with a professor of defense law and a defense attorney that chooses a group of her students to help her with the cases she has. They uncover the truths about their group members as well as other secrets.

  • Rotten Tomatoes = 92%

The Flash — If you like DC comics and superheroes, or you just want to watch an action packed show, this is the show for you. The main character, Barry Allen, has lost both of his parents and now lives with his father’s best friend who is also a detective that works for a crime investigator. After an explosion, he turns into The Flash and is the fastest man alive. He joins forces with Star Labs, a company that caused the explosion to occur, and fights crime. He keeps his identity secret from others and undergoes a lot of character development as the show progresses.

  • Rotten Tomatoes = 95%

A Series of Unfortunate of Events — This show is a symbol of my childhood because as a kid I read the entire series of novels and, finally, it has now became a show. This show follows three incredibly smart and creative siblings and all of the horrible things that they’ve endure after their parents died in a mysterious fire. They don’t have any close relatives so they meet strange distant relatives that take them in, but for some reason, they always have to find another relative to take them in because they disappear. One of their relatives, Count Olaf, is after the massive fortune they received from their deceased parents. They endure so much sadness and are always on their guard because of Count Olaf. It is really good and if you plan on watching this show, definitely check out the books because they were well written.

  • Rotten Tomatoes = 93%

Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt — Kimmy Schmidt is a happy and jolly woman who is released from a bunker after fifteen years with other women when their pastor tells them that the end of the world is near. She moves to New York City and needs to learn how the world works now. She always tries to find the best in people and is really quirky. It’s a funny show especially because of her roommate, Titus, who is my favorite character.

  • Rotten Tomatoes = 97%

Shameless — Chaos runs in this messed up family like no other. With an alcoholic father, and a bipolar mom who is never there for them, the oldest sister takes responsibility for her other five siblings. She raises them and works very hard to keep their home and be as financially stable as possible. These kids go through a lot of unfortunate circumstances and struggle to make ends meet. This show is also graphic so be cautious when watching it.

  • Rotten Tomatoes = 93%

The Defenders — If you wanted to watch The Flash, then you might also want to watch this show from Marvel. A group of vigilantes, each with their own special powers, join forces to take down a massive super villain organization, known as the Hand. In order to watch this show, you would have to watch Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and the Iron Fist in that particular order. They have their own individual shows and it is important to watch them because they give the audience background information that lead up to them joining together. It is pack full of action and my favorite was definitely Daredevil because of his love interest who works for the bad guys.

  • Rotten Tomatoes = 74%

BONUS :Big Mouth — This is one of the most underrated shows on Netflix and it needs to be acknowledged. It is a cartoon about teenagers who go through puberty and undergo changes from their bodies. I think it is really weird and funny, but also shares a good message. It normalizes the idea of being comfortable with your body and sex because it is quite shunned in today’s society even though it is normal. I wish I had been exposed to this earlier because it shows that children should normalize these taboo topics, but does it in a very comical and digestible way.

  • Rotten Tomatoes = 100%
