At Corsair’s, we have been developing our analytic simulation platform for a relatively short time, at least from a dedicated execution standpoint. But the planning for such a platform has been years in the development. That said, this is the first Easter where we have had an actual platform in the market. LemonAlong, our proof of concept, went live in February. PayThruUs, our first generation offering is coming this May. It will include something that is very timely to write about today — an easter egg.
Not the holiday type, nor the Warner Bros version. Rather the kind that keeps showing up in movies, TV shows, and other entertainment genres. Only in analytics, an Easter Egg isn’t just something that goes unnoticed. It is something you will need to hunt for. What could be more fun to hide in real world data? Of course, it would be even better if it included a prize.
Sam H Arnold has a fun piece on medium which lists off 10 of his favorites. But in data and analytics, they can be much harder to find. This actually makes a truly excellent challenge for aspiring analysts. If you can find hidden patterns in the data, your data mining and analytic chops must be top notch.
Throw in a cash prize for the first person to uncover the Easter Egg and suddenly your simulation platform starts to feel like Ready Player One. To be clear, our prizes aren’t so lofty or Willy Wonka-esque as those from… well either of those movies. But both did employ Easter Eggs… and we do hope to rival at least some of the excitement value.
What sort of Easter Egg are we creating? You will have to wait or sign up to find out. We will announce the challenge first to our Early Access community. They deserve a head start for their help. Shortly thereafter, we will open this challenge up to all takers. Then the race is on.
We can’t be sure how difficult this Easter Egg hunt will be. As analysts, we see it as experimental design. We can say that the longer and harder it proves to be — the larger the prize will grow. The details will be posted on our site and updated as the hunt goes on. A bunch of legal-ese will likely be required as well. But don’t let that spoil a great hunt!
