Securely store and share validated documents on Cove, a storage only you can access!

Graduation days are a celebration of the effort we commit to mastering new skills, skills that would help us become doctors, engineers, scientists, artists or simply help quench our thirst for higher learning. Our reward is the knowledge gained and the proof is the certificate endowed on us by the university, college or institution offering the course. With this validation in our hands we go out in to the world but at each step are forced to show proof of our knowledge and sometimes to even get the certificate verified from an authority like a ‘notary’ before being ‘accepted’.

As we climb the echelons of our professional careers we receive a lot of accolades and ratings and are peer reviewed or adjudged by our seniors and mentors. Most of these achievements are not documented and the only repository is our résumé and the only way for an interviewer to verify our claim is to ‘trust’ us or run a background check on our claims.

With professional success comes the need for social validation, which mostly is in the form of investments, like a home, a car or some other portfolio of assets. All these possessions are tied to us through an ownership document. The real asset is this document which makes us the owner of some tangible or intangible estate. And at the time of doing any transaction around these assets, like purchasing, mortgaging or selling, we are again forced to verify our claim, on our identity and assets, through some certificate which again requires validation of an approving authority, like a ‘notary’.

That is the traditional process of ownership claims verification and has been in place for centuries. Works perfectly fine, until it doesn’t!

Now think of the harrowing times when this archaic system has failed you and left you frustrated:

  1. Applying for a course or a job at the last moment and can’t find your certificates?
  2. Found them but don’t have the time to get them notarized?
  3. Your colleagues/peers are too busy to answer the call of your potential recruiter?
  4. You are traveling and your house registry documents are lying in a bank vault in another country and you are the only one who can access it? So no deal while you are away?

So yes, the current system works but only when you have time and everything is planned. But that’s not the case always. And a good system is one that works, in spite of all these issues. There are solutions today which solve this problem in bits and pieces but create a whole lot more on their own. The biggest being data theft and compromised privacy. Basic cloud storage can give you accessibility as long as you have internet but there will be prying eyes on your documents which you can’t turn a blind eye to. So the only solution is: a decentralized storage and blockchain validation.

Imagine a system where you digitize your documents and upload them on a decentralized cloud. A cloud where everything is encrypted and you hold the private key to your account and all your data is spread across multiple nodes and is not a central server. So nobody but you can access your documents. Add to this validation on the blockchain. Blockchain is essentially an immutable ledger which keeps track of everything and once recorded, the entry cannot be modified. So the solution will provide you:

  1. Complete privacy through decentralization and encryption,
  2. Accessibility through cloud, and
  3. Remove the requirement of regular validations through a notary, and
  4. Even give you the authority to share access to your docs with a specific someone for a specific time period. This reduces the scope of forgery.

Systems need to be much more flexible, scalable and inter-operable today than ever before. We at Cove have developed a solution which addresses all of the above and are trying to bring a paradigm shift through the disruptive power of blockchain.
